My comments on tutoring GRE : pre-GRE math as a preview to the actual math.

I have over five years tutoring asvab students. I can help you with asvab math formulas and difficult problems. The best way to improve your score is to get a tutor, take a lot of tests and give yourself enough time to study and learn different techniques. I can help you developed your best learning style so you can do well in the asvab. Thank you.
The ASVAB AR is made up of only about 15 major types of problems. 90% require you to know the formula to solve the problem. For example a PERCENTAGE PROBLEM Is usually solved using this formula: % / 100 = Part / Whole. You can plug- in the values and solve for the missing "x". I can give you ALL of the formulas you will need on the Arithmetic Knowledge Section. We also review techniques for excelling on the PC, MK and WK sections of the ASVAB.

Math Tutor! Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry!

My tutoring style is explaining the concept in the simplest possible terms and then practicing a few problems with the student. Then when I see the client has grasped the concept, I move on. I do not believe in rushing the student because I know how frustrating it is when one does not understand something.
I have tutored algebra 1 and 2, college algebra, intermediate algebra, pre-calculus, and geometry. My best subject is mathematics. On the SAT math section, I scored a 700 with the highest score being 800. When I was a freshman high school, I tutored students older than myself in subjects such as Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry. While still in high school, I took College Algebra at Broward College. I got the highest grade in that class -- an A.

I have taught college writing and literature at the University of Maryland for the last two years while completing my M.A. in English Language and Literature, and I will continue to teach writing there this fall. I also did peer tutoring in English and Philosophy when I was an undergraduate.
I believe that teaching should be as student-centered as possible. This means primarily two things. First, it means students should be as active in their education as possible. I see myself as a guide, who will teach students the skills they need to discover knowledge in the future, rather than as a provider of knowledge. Second, it means that I always take students interests, learning profiles, and abilities into account when planning lessons or tutoring sessions. More generally, I am a teacher who is extremely organized but also very creative with my lesson plans. Through making lessons inter ... read more

I work hard at finding a way to connect with the student. This requires that I stay aware of the hints that the student is transmitting so that I can present the material in a manner that the student can proclaim "I've got it". I also work with the student to solve problems. Another approach I use is to never answer a question directly. I always ask them questions in a manner that allows them to be guided to the answer. This builds their self confidence and allows them think thru the process to get at the answer and it helps them to take ownership of the content.
Over the past 15 years I have been a trainer for professionals in areas of process management and quality regulations. In addition I have 4 years of experience at the secondary school level teaching chemistry, math and physics. In addition I taught chemistry at the local community college as an adjunct instructor. My one to one teaching style is tailored to adapt to the students learning style. However, my experience shows that keeping the student active during the learning process promotes a better learning. I use Microsoft Excel during my lessons. I create formulas, graphs, etc. and the Excel spreadsheet and ask the student to enter the data so that he/she can see how things change with different entries. This interactive process increased the student interest, kept them focused and helped them to hold the knowledge in many instances.
Most of my teaching experience is from one to one tutoring. I have tutored over 20 students and always received compliments regarding my reliability, punctuality, style and patience. I have tutored for students with ages raging from 14 to 25 years old and included algebra, geometry, calculus, physics, etc. I worked as an 8th grade math teacher for a Catho ... read more

My preferred or favorite teaching technique is the student-focused teaching. Such method of teaching helps students meet their full potential one at the time. It considers each student level of learning and understanding by creating teacher-student friendly environment. This method also consists of an interactive learning which gives students opportunity to express and react to their understanding and concerns about what they are being taught. In brief this technique is more like one-on-one coaching. And when it comes to tutoring, I know from experience that this is the number one and very successful technique. With such technique, I believe I will make a difference in many students learning life.

I am a multidisciplinary-trained individual with comprehensive scientific background in mathematics, chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology. My education in international relations and international public affairs has allowed me to gain knowledge in the social sciences and foreign languages. As an undergraduate student, I studied and worked in Spain, which has given me the opportunity to hone my Spanish skills. In graduate school, I participated in a number of Mandarin Chinese intensive language programs, both in the United States and mainland China. I have tutored students in high school and college and have also served as a mentor to undergraduate and graduate students. As a future university professor, students’ success and understanding of the subject at hand is of the utmost importance to me.
My greatest strength as a tutor is that I know what it is like to have no knowledge of a foreign language. Thus, I am able to diagnose the particular difficulties a student is having and provide appropriate guidance in re ... read more

I love teaching, Math especially. I have a passion for showing kids how important MAth is in everyday life. Only then they would take down that barrier of "I Dont Need Math" most ofthem have set up. I come from a very diverse background and I enjoy talking about my culture and learning about other cultures. I do not believe in spoon-feeding kids work, meaning that you have to make them responsible for doing the work, because only then they would see the true value in it. As an engineer, I enjoy working on design projects with kids and telling them about the many possibilites there are in the engineering field.
Most of my experiences happened during my college career at Morgan State University as I was involved in a number of tutoring and mentoring roles to try to make a positive impact on the community around me. Here are a list of my experiences in math, computers, and busine ... read more
