My teaching style is fun yet innovative. I incorporate all types of teaching styles to meet the needs of learners. I love to learn and demonstrate that through my teaching style. My students have fun in my classroom. I aim to entertain in an effort to make students feel comfortable and have fun themselves.
I have served as the 6th grade lead teacher at Rolling Acres Edison. I teach full inclusion science and social studies by integrating math and reading skills. I am responsible for leading daily team meetings concerning student data. Together we use monthly online diagnostic testing to ensure student success on state mandated tests. As a team leader, I meet bi-weekly with our school's leadership team. I have been a Special Education Teacher since 1998 and have most enjoyed and excelled with students through teaching reading skills. I have exceptional skills in motivating students to learn how to read. I passed the Reading Teacher Certification Test in November and am waiting for my official certificate with Reading Teacher added. I have 7 1/2 years of teaching special education in Illinois and Missouri.I am an IL certified Reading Teacher. I have been volunteer tutoring literacy students for the Springfield and Cantrall School Districts.
My goal is to enhance the knowledge of children through the implementation of their best learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or tactile) and to motivate the students to pursue further learning and personal experience in the topic we are studying.
