After spending a year in Illinois as a Brazilian exchange student in high school, I went on to work for General Motors in my hometown of Porto Alegre (Brazil) as an assistant to a branch manager. Among many duties I was also in charge of translating memos, letters and financial reports to and from English and Portuguese.
