My comments on tutoring Sociology : I have a master's in social studies.I have taken sociology courses.

My style is student centered. I always try to provide a positive atmosphere for learning. My jokes were a technique to help accomplish that goal. As a GED teacher I always began with a pretest and documented student progress to correct any deficiencies. I believe in positive reinforcement and helping students achieve their goals which gives us both a sense of accomplishment.
I am an honors graduate of U.S.F. with forty years of teaching experience. In addition to my B.A. and M.A. degrees, I completed all cousework for the ED.D. I have taught FCAT preperation in middle school in math and reading. I have also taught GED Prep in the evenings. I taught junior high math one year. I have also written two books. MENTORING THROUGH TEACHING LASTS FOREVER!!!

I have tutored in the Public Schools for many years while my children were young. As a young teen I even graded papers for teachers who were not associated with my school district. I enjoy teaching and get great satisfaction from the success when a student gets it! I home schooled my middle child when she became too ill to attend school on a regular basis. My method for her taught her to be very responsible. Upon graduation she had better self confidence and had a 4.0 in college and successfully completed her degree. For students who had phobias about public speaking, I worked on helping them overcome fears and succeed in composing and presenting a speech.
