After getting my degree in Printing/Desktop Publishing/Graphic Design, I ran my own successful business for 11 years. Tutoring was my link to the creative challenge of showing people a way to enter the world of books, or create a monthly newsletter for their charity, or publish a catalog of services available to those in need. I taught reading and math skills to K-3 in a public school setting after moving cross-country for health needs. I have a background in math, grammar, phonetics, and reading. I am currently a medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth. Before I started medical school I worked as a tutor for six years with two teenage boys with autism. Under the six years of my tutoring, both of these "disabled" kids were completely mainstreamed and even taking some AP and challenge classes. I believe that any kid can learn if they are taught in a way that is fun and structured. I tutored these kids in Math, Science, Social Studies and English. I also spent a semester as a Teaching Assistant in an upper level Philosophy course during my undergrad. Most of my TA tutoring was helping college students write papers.
