A Little Bit About Me...

I have training in the Balanced Literacy program in which the word study, reading objectives, and writers' workshop are combined in a one and a half hour block of student driven, teacher facilitated activities. These are ultimately shared in a whole group and or one on one setting. I love teaching and working with all children. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. My goal is to work with your child where they are and help them find academic success. I am patient, understanding, and compassionate. I understand that when students struggle, they become frustrated. My goal is to find what method will work with your child so that learning becomes fun. I am a firm believer in teaching through discovery and in providing a constructivist approach to learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a comprehensive background in both early childhood, elementary, and secondary schools. As a special education teacher, I am familiar with a vast range of student needs and current research-based practices to be used within the classroom. This knowledge has enabled me to grow as a professional, while allowing my students to thrive at his/her education level. While teaching in New Mexico, I taught using "English as a Second Language" models and strategies to non-native English speakers. This allowed for my delivery to be fine-tuned in a way that is more extensive based on individual need. I combine my experience and education in a style that serves to enhance learning, while being committed to professional development. I am currently tutoring online and working independently for an educational assessment company.

More About This Tutor...

Coming from a family with no prior college education, I made it a point to not only graduate from a four-year university but to work as hard as I could to be the best at what I do. I accomplished what I have set out to do by graduating with a degree at both institutes I attended with a GPA above 3.0. I have tutored my younger brother for several years in the four major subjects. I also worked in high school as a teaching aid for a 4th grade class at Jefferson Elementary School and actually taught math and science to the class. As part of the Jefferson County High Science Club, I volunteered for different workshops for kids that showed them the wonders of science.
