Hands on- creative-student centered learning!

I think that a lot of learning happens by students being actively engaged in what they are learning. I try to get/make hands on activities for students to learn.
I am a certified teacher. I have taught first grade and I am currently teaching second grade. I have 2 years experience as a tutor for students in elementary school and also high school. Specializing in English, Spanish, and Elementary help!!

My area of expertise is the English language and grammar. I took two year's worth of Advanced Placement English classes during high school and made either 4's or 5's on both exams. The score of 5 on my senior level exam allowed me to place out of Freshman English during college and jump right into Sophomore English. I just made an A in that Sophomore class. I also took Spanish for four years during high school, and have already taken a college level class with a final grade of A. I will be taking another class this coming semester, and after only three more Spanish classes I will have a minor in Spanish language. My comments on tutoring Reading : I'm a great speed reader with full comprehension of what I read, but I believe that even those who don't blaze through pages can learn how to pick up important details and their pace by learning how to focus on the material.

I try to approach client's problems on a case by case nature: they have a particularly hard to write paper or a class that just isn't working for them, and I will try to work closely with them to find solutions. I will not write a client's paper or perform any creative work for them, but I will edit or provide guidance as needed. While there are no shortcuts to an A, I will share what has worked for me and others in the real world.
I'm a recent college graduate from NC State, with a degree in Creative Writing. However, the CW course instilled in me knowledge in a variety of fields from film to philosophy, and as a requirement of modern education made me more than just fluent in the language of computers. I have found that each individual has his or her own learning style and I like to tailor the class to the individual's style as much as possible. I do believe that some type of return demonstration, whether it be verbal, hands-on, or written, is an effective way to assess the student's mastery of the subject.
