A Little Bit About Me...

Science and technology do not have to be difficult or abstract. I know how to make Chemistry interesting and relevant to everyday life. If students need help with the math that is required for Chemistry, I know how to bring them up to speed. When students are willing to keep trying to learn, I will keep trying to help them.
I have enjoyed teaching Chemistry, Computer Programming and Freshman General Science for the past 20 years in Missouri and Kansas. I like to use current events and computerized resources to help students learn. I love science, but more importantly I know how to help students understand concepts rather than memorize. Together we can learn skills to prepare for further study in math and science. By helping each student construct his or her own knowledge, science becomes more relevant and important.

A Little Bit About Me...

I learn best when I relate the subject to everyday life. Therefore, I enjoy explaining materials in basic terms. I provide links so anyone I teach will remember principles and concepts and to be able to solve problems for themselves.
During college, I worked as a Teaching Assistant at Duquesne University for 4 years. There I helped to teach the Pharmaceutics Principles Lab to professional Pharmacy Students. Outside of college, I have recently taught math, science and geography to middle school students.

I graduated with a B.S. degree in Genetics from Iowa State University, with a minor in statistics, enabling me to gain an in depth understanding of science and mathematics. I was a very driven student, every semester I excelled in a full 18 credit hours, while working in a genetics research lab and being actively involved in many clubs, as well as collegiate athletics tutoring. I like to learn be examples which are real world examples. I do strongly believe in constructive learning too. I do have patient and easy going style. I believe children can meet all of their potential if they are given appropriate opportunities.
I have an Associate of Arts degree from Kemper plus a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Central Missouri State University and I am pursuing an Accounting degree. All of this has given a strong mathematical and scientific background in which I can tutor in courses such as statistics.
