I believe that the most important role of an educator is to be able to recognize the learning style of the student. Once this is established the student can be successful. All students can learn given the opportunity and appropriate tools necessary to achieve their potential. I also believe that learning must be fun for students to actively engage in the process. I am a life long learner and try to instill my passion for learning in my students.
I graduated from Ohio University in 1978 with a BS in Education. I went on to earn a Masters degree in Educational Administration. I believe in using a multi- modality approach to teaching. The more senses involved, the more likely one will remember. I also believe in trying to make material needed to learn to seem approachable or pertinent in their lives.(No matter the age) Anyone can learn if it is presented in a way that makes it exciting and fun. You must let them give a sense of accomplishment and success.
I graduated from college with certification to teach grades 1-12. Do to the job market at that time, I was unable to get a full time teaching job. I substituted and then tutored for 2 years. I then worked various jobs working with the public. Although much of work experience is not in the teaching field, I have worked with people in many ways to reach their full potential and can relate to them on a level that they will comprehend.

During my years at The Ohio State University, I earned a B.A. in Psychology, and completed a year and a half of Masters work in Social Work. After completing my B.A., I was hired as a professional tutor. I tutored college students in various subjects including English and essay writing, Psychology, Reading, some Spanish, and Social Studies.
