My comments on tutoring Painting : I have been painting and teaching in the Rochester area for 27 years. At my studio I teach acrylic painting, decorative painting and beginning colored pencil lessons and workshops. We paint on wood, tin, glass or canvas. No experience is necessary to produce beautiful work at my studio. STudents can use a pattern if they have no drawing experience and I teach students to base paint, shade and highlight their work to give it dimension and make it "pop".

I have 27 years of painting and teaching experience. I am an Assistant Professor at MCC whre I teach in Health Education. I have taught in numerous places and with numerous populations including at BOCES, Penfield and Perinton Recreation Dept's, Michaels Crafts, Catholic Family Center, and currently at my own studio (Hope In Art Studio, Frpt NY).
I am a relaxed teacher. I love to help student's explore what they'd like to learn or paint. I offer as much or as little direction as a student needs. I like to challenge my students to paint works that may be just a bit beyond what they think they are capable of because they always surprise themselves. Painting is nourishing. It is a privilege to teach and watch how it enriches lives!

My comments on tutoring Painting : Studied color theory, design, and scene painting for theater. Worked with oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, pastel and experimented medium (nail polish). I prefer to worked with less fumed or messy materials for safety.

My education involve intensive studies in both the fine arts and theater. I went from basic drawing and design, to painting, building models, to paintings set for theater. I worked in 10 productions for Subversive Theater Collective and was a volunteer coordinator for an arts festival while living in Buffalo. All children and adolescents can successfully acquire and process new information. Many students encounter difficulty learning in a traditional school setting because the large class sizes do not afford the teacher the time to learn about each individual and attend to his or her specific needs. Since April 2007, I have been a substitute teacher at both the Watkins Glen High School and Middle School. Frequent subjects include English, Psychology, and Physical Education. I belong to a writers group which meets at the local library every first and third monday. I belong to a chess club that meets at a coffee shop every Thursday. I also assistant coach varsity and college soccer during the spring and fall seasons.
I believe that education should present as much material to the student as possible, which includes using various textbooks, lecture, and inquiry. After that, it will be up to the student to assess and construct the information given in order to form his/her own opinion about the subject matter. A Little Bit About Me...

I recently earned a BS in studio art and my interests extend into math, sciences, and reading. This desire for knowledge spurred me to begin a second major in chemistry, enabling me to continue my math and science courses. Additionally I have an associates degree in graphic design.
