I was a professor at Ithaca College for 34 years in the music department. In that capacity I taught private performance lesson, coached chamber ensembles, conducted various ensembles. supervised and coached student teachers, performed in a faculty artist-in-residence quintet, performed solo recitals, assisted students in writing essays, resumes, and applications for positions in the teaching field or graduate studies. I also had many experiences helping students through difficult academic and personal issues. As a private teacher meeting individually with a student for an hour each week, I became the main academic and personal adviser for them. All children and adolescents can successfully acquire and process new information. Many students encounter difficulty learning in a traditional school setting because the large class sizes do not afford the teacher the time to learn about each individual and attend to his or her specific needs. As a tutor, I find my students' strongest learning modalities. In doing so, my students learn to trust and respect me as a person and see me as a support. Though I recently graduated with a BS in Childhood and Special Education, I have many years of experience as a teacher/trainer.
