One of the advantages of my background is the variety of people I have worked with. Regardless of different cultures, races, socioeconomic backgrounds and ages, I have the unique ability to connect with people in a language they understand. I utilize this ability to teach by analogy, as many of the things I teach and tutor others on involve complex subjects that the student usually has no direct experience in. When not applicable (such as instructing a student in grammar usage), the other method is to encourage students to learn by doing while I coach, encourage, and draw out thoughtful answers along the way.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a tremendous amount of experience in many math and science classes. I have graduated from Cornell with As and high Bs in all of my general requirement math and science classes, including AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Physics 1,2, AP Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Physics of Waves and Optics, and the Mechanics of Solids. These classes have led me to a good solid education in maths and sciences, and my previous tutoring experience with Tutor.com allowed me to develop good teaching skills. During my time at the Rochester Institute of Technology, I was a student grader while working towards my B.S. in Computational Mathematics. I obtained my degree with Highest Honors, and an overall GPA of 3.88. I graded mostly college algebra and early calculus. I was required to do the same homework and quizzes the students did, and create answer keys. Then, I would go through each problem and either give full credit for a correct answer and work, or partial credit if needed. By following their work, I was able to see where they made mistakes, and write in notes on what they needed to do. I will be returning to RIT for a second bachelor’s degree, in Industrial Engineering, which also requires a strong math background.
