My tutoring began in when I was employed with Nazareth Colleges' Partners for Learning program. This program worked with several schools in the Rochester, NY area to provide in school and after school tutoring and teaching assistance to children grades 6-12. I specialized at one school, Hope Hall in Gates, NY, where I worked with students who had a variety of learning challenges. I assisted students with subjects such as: English, Spanish, French, math, language arts, science and social studies. I worked with Partners for Learning for two years from 2005-2006 while I was finishing my undergraduate degree. I have also been employed as a substitute teacher in my hometown of Rochester, NY. I attended Northern Arizona University, whereupon I fell in love with sociology. I have a firm grasp of basic and advanced sociological concepts, specializing in historical analysis and research methods. After school, I spent my time working temporary jobs, and found one that I thoroughly enjoyed. At Wyko I aquired a set of technical skills that allowed me to work on some of the most advanced instruments of the day. So far as my teaching is concerned, I have been teaching for a number of years as a full-time instructor for elementary students. As a trainer and coach, I work with diverse groups (age, background, education, etc.) and utilize varied styles to meet the needs of the participants. Adult learners need to connect past knowledge with new discoveries and have a sense that what they are learning will benefit them in some way, children need to experience, touch and incorporate their senses into their learning. All in all, I alter my teaching to meet the needs of my students.
