Drawing is one of my top subjects! Drawing is a very important skill to master not only of those who want to become better artist, but also those who simply wish to be more expressive individuals. Drawing creates the foundation for nearly every artistic discipline, whether it be paining, illustration, graphic design, or even printmaking. Over the years I have developed exception drawing skills and have become very adept at both seeing and rendering objects as they appear in space. Teaching someone else how to draw and in turn become a better artist is something I greatly enjoy.

I have been drawing and creating art for a long as I can remember and it has always filled me with joy and been a true passion in my life. Now, with a BFA in Fine Art, and three plus years working in the commercial art field I have turned this passion into a career choice. Being a traditionally trained illustrator, who has worked professionally in the commercial art field, allows me to have a unique perspective on art and art teaching. To put it simply, I like to blend the old with the new. My traditional training provides me with knowledge of every classical medium, from graphite and charcoal to oils, paints and watercolors. I can appreciate the finer side of art and teach students various artistic skills and techniques that have been successfully in use and remained unchanged for thousands of years. Learning how to properly perceive an object in space, using geometric shapes to constru ... read more

My comments on tutoring Drawing : I received my bachelor of fine arts degree in Studio Arts and Graphic Design, so I am confident teaching any style or use of medium in Drawing.

I go as fast or as slow as the student needs. I encourage students to try new techniques and ideas so they are self-aware of the process and learning experience that leads to self-improvement and development.
During the school year, I work as a curriculum coordinator and art teacher for an after school program in Lexington, Ma. This is my 6th year of teaching stimulating and unique art projects to children in grades K-5. I have interned as a graphic designer and also had jobs as a wedding photographer. During the summer, I work as an assistant director to a summer enrichment program in Winchester, Ma. Outside of work- I am a member at large of the Boston Guild of Puppeteers, and also work on my own art which includes building my portfolio of paintings to show and sell, as well as complete small digital photography jobs.

More About This Tutor...

I recently graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with two bachelor's degrees. One degree is in Spanish and I consider myself completely fluent, especially having spent a semester in Costa Rica. During this time I volunteered at a school teaching students ages 5 through 18 English at different levels. My other degree is in Social Thought and Political Economy which required a lot of writing, generally 15 to 25 page papers per class. It is a major dedicated to social change and I learned subjects in all areas including History, Current Affairs, Politics and Political Science.
I have been a gymnastics instructor for about eight years which has helped in shaping my teaching style. I love to push children in a supportive manner so that they can believe in themselves and truly get the most of their education. A Little Bit About Me...

As an educator there are a variety of beliefs which I hold that make up my personal philosophy of education and style of teaching. I strongly believe in maximizing a student's potential by having them discover their strengths and weaknesses. As an educator, especially at the elementary and middle school levels, it is important to guide each student as much as possible to help them find their strengths so they can have a successful and positive learning experience. I realize that all students learn differently because of these individual strengths and weaknesses, and it is necessary for me to implement a variety of pedagogy in all content areas.
I feel I am qualified to be a tutor due to my current and previous teaching experiences in elementary and middle school, as well as, the successful completion of hands-on educational courses in History, Math, Language Arts, and Science fr ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been educating people since 1987. I began in music education, which I taught successfully for 9 years, and also taught piano lessons. I then worked in special education for 1 year as an educational technician, where I tutored math, reading, and students with severe disabilities. I continued on a transitional certificate teaching elementary grades two and four, and most recently have taught post-secondary medical assisting students at a post secondary institution as well as teaching night courses in adult education in medical terminology and medical transcription. I had great success in all fields among my students.
I believe that learning is ongoing throughout life, and that we all differ in our learning styles. I like to present a topic so that it is fun, usually with tactile work using math manipulatives, or flash cards, props, and games that teach conceptual thinking ... read more
