Teaching is my passion. I earned BA in Spanish Adolescence Education in May of 2011 from The College of Saint Rose and graduated cum laude. I studied at La Universidad Nacional de Córdoba during the summer of 2010 in Córdoba, Argentina. Most recently I have had experience teaching Spanish in high schools around the Albany region. The first school I was a student teacher in was Our Saviors Lutheran School. The second school I student taught Spanish in was South Colonie High School. Other experience I have had with the Spanish language was at Market Strategies International during the summers of 2008 and 2011. There I am a telecommunications researcher. The best teaching style in my opinion, explains how to research, plan and write essays, gives students time to practice these skills in class, and ensures students get feedback on how well they have done on each sub-skill. Students learn skills by using them in a realistic, subject-specific context, and in a combined way. So they might use other skills taught before such as note taking, highlighting, all in context. The purpose of the skills are stressed, students are taught not just what to do and how, but also why. The students then reflect on how well they used the skills, what gains they were getting and so on, and then they action plan for improvement. After completing my graduate program and student teaching at Latham Ridge Elementary School, I became an aide within the same building. This position lent itself to filling in maternity years the following year. I was then hired as a sixth grade teacher and have been in that position since that time. At this point, I teach mathematics, reading, and writing. All of the students with special needs are placed into my classroom each year. In addition to classroom teaching, I have taught several students once they have graduated into the middle school. In addition to academics, my students and I focus a lot on being good citizens, and having open/honest communication. I try to foster an environment that instills respect and understanding.
