My approach to teaching relies heavily on the use of modeling. Modeling is a powerful tool in the development of not only writing and language skills, but also in exposing my students to a framework which will allow them to hone their own thought processes and work habits. Incorporating a wide variety of vocabulary-building activities into daily lessons strengthens my students' understanding of the subject area and provides a familiarity with language that will aid them in the ability to express themselves in a much more effective manner.

I primarily use the Socratic Method (question and answer) as my teaching style. I believe that asking students the right questions helps them to learn the information. Also, in certain instances I believe it helps the learning process if the subject matter can be related to an area of interest. A Little Bit About Me...

I started out working as a Head Start teacher's assistant and the following year I was promoted to Head Start teacher and manager. I have also worked as a 1:1 instructional assistant with a high needs student. Currently I worked in a behavior school as an instructional assistant, and I have stepped in to plan curriculum and teach all the classes because the teacher has been on paid leave this year. I also have been commuting to college in Castleton State College from Springfield after work to complete my degree in education.
