I have 40 credits and a 3.0 but am no longer able to afford classes there.
I like to cover the basics right off the bat, even if they may be familiar with them and then focus on whichever areas are most troubling for the student.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have noticed a couple things in my years tutoring people in math. I have noticed that many people have trouble with the fundamental concepts of fractions, decimals, order of operations, and adding/subtracting positive and negative numbers. If a student does not have these concepts together much of the 'higher level' mathematics can seem a blur and highly confusing. I have also noticed that students like real world or relevant examples when learning a new math concept. I like to find out what my student is into and tailor problems to things that affect their every day life. Practical real world examples can significantly increase a students retainment of concepts. A Little Bit About Me...

After completing a year as a teacher I realized that what I liked about teaching is the actual teaching part. Unfortunately for me, most of what was involved with being a teacher for me included tasks other than teaching, which was not what I had expected. I do very well with 1-on-1 tutoring and small group tutoring. The 11-15 age group is what I am especially interested in, but I have had experience with all ages from 4-25 years old. My teaching style is very versatile. I think the best way to teach is to first assess the areas that need the most work, and then devise a simple, logical approach to help the student understand the material. Some students learn visually, others learn by repetition. It takes a lot of adaptation to make sure the student really grasps the ideas.
I was the salutatorian of my high school class. I excelled in every subject, and was a member of the tutoring club. I also tutored my cousin, who has Down Syndrome, helping him with his summer school work, including literature, handwriting, math, and Spanish. I majored in Art at the Pennsylvania State University.
