I am an excellent teacher/mentor. Hire me, hire the best!

I began teaching in 2011 as a tutor at a local tutoring facility. I quickly realized that I had a gift for teaching and a passion for doing so. I continued to tutor at this facility for 3 years. My schedule remained full as I was in high demand once word got out that there was a good math tutor. I decided to leave the tutoring facility in order to pursue my artistic passions through music. Shortly after leaving, though, I got some phone calls from the parents of previous students asking if I would still teach their children. After some thought, I obliged and began tutoring privately. I get along well with everyone, and I am eager to share my knowledge with all willing to accept it.

More About This Tutor...

I own my own science consulting firm and like to dedicate a certain percentage of my time to education and public outreach projects including teaching, mentoring, and tutoring. I have taught high school and college students on and off since 1986 and have had several students go on to VERY successful careers, perhaps one of the best ways to evaluate ones ability as a teacher. My most recent success (2006-07) was a 7th grade C and B student who had straight A's after only two months of working together and finished 7th grade with straight A's. Her confidence level increased dramatically (as noted by her family and friends) and she now has set her sights on Harvard as a real possibility someday.
I tailor my teaching style to the student. Throughout the years I have recognized that each student has a different way of learning and I make it my goal to adapt to them, to try to reach them ... read more

More About This Tutor...

While an undergraduate at Colorado State, I taught various levels of chemistry laboratories for 4 semesters, which included both teaching credits and paid work. I spent one year as a graduate student at the University of Michigan in which I taught general chemistry recitation and a laboratory section. I also was involved in a class that was designed to educate future professors on the field. I spent one semester tutoring various math levels at the Community College of Denver. I believe that I have learned proper use of the English language through authoring a journal article and writing my master's thesis.
My teaching style has evolved throughout the years, especially depending on the type of student, but has always included plenty of preparation and making sure I know how to work through each question properly in order to explain from more than one angle how to answer. I believe t ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Each student learns in their own way and sometimes that way is not in a classroom setting. A teacher to me is someone who has developed a way to make each student understand the subject matter. This is where I feel I differentiated myself from my classmates and colleagues. I have been successful with my students because I take the time to get to know a student’s strengths, weaknesses and interests. If my student is excited to come talk to me about one of their hobby’s, that means to me they are excited to come learn and grow as a student and a person. Most recently as a College Reach Out Program (CROP) mentor I have developed un-motivated students into happy and driven students and to me there is no greater gift.
For three years at Florida State University I was enrolled in an excellent teacher education program. At the end of the program I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary ... read more

I am a very hands on and visual teacher that believes the best way to learn is by seeing and doing things yourself. In order to provide the best teaching expereince I would teach through multiple examples and putting difficult subject matter into a context the student can understand and visualize. I would call myself a demonstrator or facilitator. First, I very calmly demonstrate and walk a student through the process of solving a similar problem. Then, I ask the student if they have any questions about the process. After this, I let the student try a few with my assistance and then a few more on his/her own. I don’t move on until I feel the student has grasped the material and feels confident with it no matter how much time and patience it may take. I have a genuine love for working with children.
My experience includes tutoring students from grades K-12. I was a staff at the Boys & Girls Club in Central Florida and I would help students who had questions about their homework assignments, give spelling quizzes for students with spelling words and also listen to students read daily. I’ve also tutored my fellow classmates in college in Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Trigonometry, ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with students, and I have an affinity for those students that are hard to reach, as well as those with learning disabilities. As a student with ADHD myself, I have patience for their difficulties. I have great patience with the students, as I want them to learn and experience education. I enjoy working with real world information so that students can see how what they are learning will benefit them outside of the classroom. I believe that education is much more than simply learning, as it also relates to building a relationship with the student so that they trust what you are teaching them.

A Little Bit About Me...

Although my bachelor's degree is in psychology, my interests throughout my education have been to study children; how they learn, how they think, and what I can do to help them better themselves. Because of this interest, I have tutored children for a couple of years some years back, and was recognized for my efforts. I have excelled in mathematics, English, and psychology, and love to pass this knowledge on to others. I also have three cousins who have come to the United States from Taiwan to learn and I have spent an extensive amount of time teaching them ESL.
My teaching style is mostly form-fitted to each child. I assess what level they are at, how quickly they learn, and what areas they need help in or should strengthen. I cannot stress the importance of patience when it comes to tutoring children, which I have an abundance of, having taught various ages. Also, having stud ... read more
