My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : Enjoyed and am well-versed in Shakespeare's later works. Have extensively researched alternative methods of teaching Shakespeare in order to make his works more relevant and engaging for today's students.
Over the last 7 years I have been either working with youth or working to make myself a stronger reader, writer, and teacher. My experience includes two years of work as a nanny, during which I was responsible for scheduling activities, providing sound moral guidance, and tutoring my charge in all of her school subjects. While attending Kutztown University in pursuit of an Education degree I took every opportunity to work with high school students. At I-LEAD Charter School in Reading, Pennsylvania, I worked one-on-one with a reading specialist to help struggling readers improve their basic literacy skills. As well, I took an on-campus job tutoring my peers in many different English-related subjects, including linguistics, Shakespeare's plays, American and British literature, composition, and creative writing.
