I'm PhD physicist with more than 20 years of tutoring experience at all possible levels and with variety of students ranging from gifted kids of elementary school to PhD students of Wash Uni as well as active tutors themselves.<><><><> I'm really patient (even with my own kids!) and start with putting myself in my student's shoes. I'm using variety of tools to deliver knowledge: verbal, visual, graphical, math formulas, examples from everyday life! Not everyone learns in the same way. I try to discern how the student I am tutoring learns best, whether it's by just doing examples, or visually by physically relating the material to something easier to understand. After I have found out how best to teach my student, I am able to move forward and help them to the best of my ability. In my tutoring experience, I have always been respectful and curteous to my students. I believe that students are much more likely to confident in their learning if they feel as if they are respected their teacher/tutor. I also make sure to be supportive even when the student is struggling and then compliment them when they make great strides.
