In my experiences, I have found the best way to fascilitate the learning of mathematics is through visual instruction via a whiteboard and/or blackboard. After the student sees an example of a problem done, I like to sit down with the tutee and have them walk me through the problems to make sure they have a good understanding of both the way to do the problem as well as a stron conceptual understanding of the material.
I have tutored at a Learning Center at Shippensburg University for the past two years. As a graduate in Accounting, I was given the tools to be able to teach and comprehend a lot of math skills. I was able to take both Business and Math Courses in college including: Business Management, Calculus, Business Accounting, and Algebra. During the last 4 years I have privately tutored students in math and 98% of them went from being F students to B-A students in both math and business courses.

My most recent experience was as apreschool teacher. Despite the fact that the children were all the same age, whatever developmental or cognitive delays a child might have, is not being addressed, therefore making the teaching environment, very stressful. Prior to the preschool classes, I taught as a substitute in the school district where I attended college.
