A Little Bit About Me...

I do believe that all children learn differently and my FIRST goal is to find out how that child learns best and go around the child's needs---not expecting the child to learn how I teach and limit that child. Because of my experiences in the past, I've had great opportunities of working with Special Needs children of which is a grea example of finding the way the child learns best. I love teaching children and I love learning along with them as well. I love HANDS-ON learning, allowing the child(ren) to explore in order to learn about the subjects and about themselves as well. A Little Bit About Me...

I see my job as that of facilitator: the student is there, the information is there, and the student is the learner. I'm just there to guide, explain, provide details, clarify, relate new information to existing knowledge, etc. The student has to be "in charge," so to speak. I can't force knowledge into someone's mind, it has to be learned, but I can help make that information real and relevant to provide the motivation to learn. I'm very attentive to affective factors (stress, irrelevance, animosity, etc.) that can impede learning, and I strive to provide a learning environment that will foster a love of learning and scholarship. Every kid is different in their own special way. You need different tactics per different kid. Being that I am patient and caring I know that it wouldn't take long for them to get comfortable with me and have me assist them. I believe that every good deed should be rewarded and if the student is doing well he shall be treated so, with a possible treat or even a pat on the back. I feel that if a child is told what they are doing right rather than what they are doing wrong they are more likely to have a positive outlook on what task they are trying to accomplish.
As a young college student I understand that my experience doesn't compare to those with degrees and much time doing it. As a graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Education, I have a great diverse experience with children and families. I have volunteered my education experience and worked at many places including preschools, kindergarten centers, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and early childhood centers.
