A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, I began my teaching career in mathematics at the junior high school level. I taught Algebra I to eighth graders. While teaching, I returned to school and received my M.Ed as a Reading Specialist. After working in that area for a few years, I became an inner city high school principal. I remained in that capacity for approximately twenty years. I was searching for a new challenge and joined the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to administer an AmeriCorp grant called Smart Start for Brain Gain 2010. In that capacity I worked with colleges and public schools throughout Oklahoma to develop tutoring and mentoring programs in reading and mathematics. A Little Bit About Me...

While studying at the University of Oklahoma, I became interested in tutoring and helping those less fortunate. I began tutoring at a program called Tuesday Tutors which provides free-of-charge tutoring to all students Junior High level and above (although we often helped out Elementary students who stopped by). I also became active in ESL/Literacy tutoring. I tutored ESL for 7 months prior to graduating. I have now graduated with three Bachelor degrees and am now seeking a Master's in Philosophy. I still tutor whenever I get the chance and am currently helping an ADHD/Dyslexic student to boost his reading level.
