I worked for Kaplan Inc for about a year, teaching almost all of their tests, including SAT, ACT, MCAT, LSAT, GRE, and GMAT. I taught mathematics and statistics at Parkland College for three years. My primary duties included many of the bench chemistry and laboratory biology techniques from college. I have completed one year of post bachelor's education at Illinois State University and am currently one semester shy of obtaining my type 09 high school teaching certification. While at ISU, I was a graduate level teaching assistant and was responsible for teaching several lab sections of Biology 101. I have documented over 100 clinical hours in a high school setting and am currently serving as a member of the Illinois Army National Guard.
I believe that each and every student has an ability to learn and it is necessary to find a method of teaching conducive to the individual. For example, I was a student that learned though hands on activities and writing. Havin ... read more

In college, I was a peer tutor in Math, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. I have sub-taught for CUSD 5, and CUSD 87, for 3 years. I have a Illinois Type 09 Certification, which is currently valid in McLean County. I have good grammar skills, and very good mathematical skills. I completed 2 semesters of Organic chemistry, 3 quarters of College Algebra, and 2 quarters of College Calculus (single variable only) I have had a lot of experience working with autistic students, behavior disorder students, and LD students, also.
My teaching style is one which engages the student actively in the learning process. I have used the "popcorn" technique in a classroom, where I call out "popcorn", then call on someone at random. A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and working with children and adults alike. Everyone can learn; it is up to the teachers to find out how their students learn best. I was 14 years old when my younger brother was born, so I had the wonderful opportunity to learn firsthand that teaching requires a great deal of patience, knowledge, and flexibility. My goal in teaching is to maximize efficiency -- find out how the student learns best and tailor the teaching materials to meet his or her needs.
My pre-medical school coursework allowed me to gain conceptual and hands-on understanding in the areas of inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and biology.
