A Little Bit About Me...

The school of Education in North Carolina prepared me well. I am above all flexible. My license reads K-8 and I have taught Art K-6 for a year, Second Grade for two years in NC. Then in 2001 I taught Title One reading in TN for a year then Fourth grade for three more years. My family moved to Northern VA and I taught Fifth grade there for two years before moving back to TN for a year where I taught 8th grade Algebra, and 7th grade English. Since moving to Maine I have only had oppurtunity to work with alterative special Ed with grades 6, 7 and 8.
I have worked with students who were given up on years before, but once the met me, they evolved and became what so many said they never would become, educated.Vgotsky talked about the zone of proximal development and potential. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT) in 1984 with a degree in mathematics. Since then, I have held a number of teaching positions in private secondary schools and colleges. I have taught the following subjects: Pre-Algebra, Algebra I&II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus. I have also tutored many students in those subjects (references available). I currently substitute teach in the mathematics department at Bangor High School on a fairly regular basis.
I believe that everyone can find success in mathematics, and I am a very patient and thorough teacher.
