I am a driven individual who has obtained a Masters in Social Work with a concentration in Child Welfare in addition to a BA in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. While attending graduate school I worked as a substitute teacher which allowed me to gain experience working with children of various ages and levels. I have been a school librarian/media specialist for 26 years. I have worked with students in grades K-12. My role as a librarian enabled me to interact with students of all learning levels. Students who struggled would come to me to find materials that they could understand more easily. During times that I did not have classes in the library, I was usually assigned to tutor students who were in the low percentile groups based on MCT scores. I helped them with language, reading, and math.
I used my skills as a librarian to encourage students to explore and enjoy books. We explored different types of literature genres, researched using the computer, and utilized the reference books in our library. I graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree in Elementary Education grades K-6. While in school I worked at Sylvan Learning Centers to earn a little extra money. I have taught Kindergarten for 3 years. All of my students were successful.
