Since I have been around 15, starting with my growing nieces, it has always stood out to me how the child's brain develops. Seeing one of my nieces grasp material quicker than the other. I took up two years of Early Childhood Education in high school as a co-op class and learned a lot about the development of children. I didn't want it to stop there so I signed up for City Year. which is a nonprofit organization which focuses of students in low-income neighborhoods with a high rate of high school drop-outs and our ultimate goal is to work with children so they are on the aim line to graduate 12th grade. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been out of college, working in the IT industry for about 8 years now. While in college, I tutored fellow students in the school's lab in the subjects of English and Mathematics. Within my current position, I train users on a daily basis on various software applications and basic PC utilization/troubleshooting.
I have always been excited to help others succeed. I have a young daughter myself, so I am very interested in early childhood development. I fully comprehend that there are many different learning styles and am capable of adapting my teaching methods to meet those of you or your child.

I believe in personal interaction with students – making them write, making them read – going over every detail, looking at the issues (grammar, punctuation, syntax, coherent structure (logic, unity, transitions, parallelism,)) and then re-writing and re-reading. The key to doing well in English is understanding basic structure and making it become second nature when writing. Through personal interaction, the process can be simplified by working hands on with each sentence and paragraph. A student learns best when he/she actually reads and writes and has someone to work with on the structure – through a workshop type approach – writing and re-writing.
