If you don't like the results, I haven't done my job.

I won the state championship in the 100 meters and went to Adams State College in Alamosa CO. Broke a leg in track and received withdrawn F across the board. Left college and healed up. Went to the Army two years and reserve three years. Came back and picked up the quickest degree possiable. Moved to Hawwaii, three years. Became a ciritified dept of defense government contractor. Furnish and deliver contracts. Ended up moving back home to Albuquerque NM. I started working in the Indian Casinos for 13 years. I bought a house and retired. But now I'm tired of sitting around.
All I do is tend to my students needs. I'm personal. Like to get off track with my students and lead them back to the point.

It is important for me to determine what motivates each student to learn, what their interests are and what is important to them. I wanted the student to see how each lesson was valuable to their future success. I always got my students involved in the classroom with open discussions. Each week my students gave a five minute presentation on a subject of their choise, building their self confidence along with their reading, writing and speaking skills.

I believe that a big part of teaching is listening and observing. Not every student learns the same way, so it is important to be patient and try to understand what works best for the student. In many cases, examples are helpful in learning. Examples that are tailored to a specific student (e.g. drawing correlations to cooking for measurements, or sports for averages) can be a great basis for understanding concepts. I have done classroom teaching and one-on-one teaching. I prefer the one-on-one approach because it is so effective, and so satisfying for myself and the student when progress is made.
