Although I have little teaching experience, I love working with all ages of people. I'm sure I would have a different approach to teaching/tutoring because I have not had any education classes or experience. I would offer a more business/economical outlook on mathmatical skills. I really like to explain and learn how these skills will apply do out daily lives and to our lives in the future.
I began to work at Regions Bank in New Albany the Summer after my Senior year of high school. While still working for the bank, I attended Ole Miss for a year, then transfered to Northeast for the next year. I returned to Ole Miss to recieve my bachelors degree in Managerial Finance with an emphasis in Investments. I am now employed for a furniture company out of Tupelo, where I am an Accountant. I took high school and college seriously. After college I worked for several years before attending law school. After law school I decided to combine my legal experience with hands-on medical skills, and I enrolled in a Registered Nurse program at SUNY Delhi, which I will complete next May. This summer is a lull before completing my education and embarking on a medical administration career.
I believe effective learning can occur in a 1-on-1 tutoring situation when the tutor and the student can communicate well. Tone, mood, and setting all come into play. A tutor who is relaxed, cheerful, encouraging, and resolutely intelligent is more likely to be approachable and someone the student will collaborate with successfully. I believe in active listening and working together to establish a method of studying.
