I am a highly-experienced speaker and tutor of German with 4.5 years of tutoring experience. As a teenager, I attended the annual Statewide German Competition in San Antonio, TX, competing in various fields such as sight-reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation. I scored in the 90th percentile on the National Exam for three consecutive years; in 2011, I received the highest score in the state of Texas. In 2010, I was able to travel to Schwaebisch Hall, Germany, for a six-month study abroad program, where I lived with a German family and attended school to achieve an immersive experience. When a question is asked, I am not going to simply just tell the student the answer. I would want them to think it out and try and figure it out for themselves. I would however guide them in the right direction and even ask them other questions they may know in order for them to figure out the intial problem. I feel that these types of interactions are a more effective way of learning. Also, writing things down helps tremedously because not only are you thinking it, but you're seeing it and reading it as well. I am a very easy person to get along with, and I am also very encouraging. I enjoy helping others whether it's in an academic environment or not.
