My experience stems primarily from my time attending college both in the United States and abroad in Cork, Ireland. I have earned a B.A. in English with the intent of pursuing graduate school. In May 2008 I was awarded the honor of an Award of Excellence in Critical Writing from the University of Northern Iowa. I spent three consecutive summers as a faculty member with Exploration Schools, Inc. located in Boston, MA where I taught, coached, tutored and led youth ranging in grades 4-9 in the areas. As a tutor I have discovered that everyone learns differently; therefore, I try to find ways to adapt my own tutoring style to the learning styles of the people I tutor. I can be more hands-on if the student requires it, but I can also act as more of a general guide. I believe that it is important for the students to be in charge of the sessions, so I try my best to take my cues from them. I also think it is important to have realistic expectations of the students I tutor.
