As a Bowling Green State University student who has studied Communication Disorders I have come across many experiences with children. Communication Disorders not only includes speech, but language as well. I have gained knowledge about how children read and write and why some children may have problems with this. During my last semester of college I observed 25 hours of speech and language therpay which involved watching both adults and children. This year I will be graduating with a 3.0 in my major. A Little Bit About Me...

After 13 years of employment with the Oklahoma City Police Department, I decided to finish my degree, and become a certified teacher. This decision was due to the Police Department recruiting me to teach various computer classes to police officers. I have taught various beginning and advanced computer classes, Algebra II, and business math. I have also tutored students who have failed high school math classes. Each student I have tutored has brought their grade up to at least a "C" average (from a failing score). One student I tutored enrolled in a class at OU for high school credit (Algebra II). I like to give examples of problems, and "problem solve" with the student through illustrative examples on paper or on the board. During my life I have worked in several types of businesses in which I would usually advance to becoming the lead person, teacher to the ones working below me. Micro welding had to teach others how to set machines and run them. I built parts which went to the moon, had to teach the others how they were made. Owned an upholstery business and taught people how to sew, cut, and hang the materials on the furniture. I helped my sons and later my granddaughters with home work. All of this should add up to a year of tutoring students. Teaching the students they need to ask questions that concern them the most and then always manage to work through them.
