Teaching, and specifically teaching music, has been my passion for years. While tutoring, I use a wide variety of methods, including metaphors, diagrams- whatever the student requires to learn the material. I am exceptionally patient with struggling students, because I know that losing patience solves nothing, and given the right materials and knowledge, the student will succeed. It is very important to let children know that there is no wrong or right way of doing their work, as long as it is done correctly. They also need to know that their methods are their own. Children needs reassurance. When A childs' work is not done to one's full potential, it is not my strategy to make them feel like less of a child. It is however, my strategy to work with that child until he/she understands WHY the work was not done correctly, and then let him/her correct the work themself. This in my opinion, lets a child know that we believe in him/her. That is the most important lesson a child can learn. I am a successful graduate of Susquehanna University, having earned a BA in International Studies. This study of cultural anthropology allowed me ample experience with writing, grammar, and research. I will be attending Rutgers University next year to earn a Master of Science degree in Microbiology. I am very experienced in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and Math on all levels. In addition to my devotion to the sciences, I have maintained an advanced-conversational level of fluency in French and an ability in the creative arts through coursework at the collegiate level and would be able to teach those as well.
