My comments on tutoring Journalism : I know how to keep sentences & paragraphs short and can make quick corrections under deadline pressure.

B.A. in English, Liberal Arts from The College of New Jersey. Experienced Reporter, specializing in news and feature stories. Experienced Editor/Proofreader, specializing in Associated Press (AP) style. At the moment, I am working for the Professional Service Group of Central New Jersey as a Managing Editor of their Multi-Author Blog (MAB). I come up with story ideas and assign them to Writers. I edit articles, write headlines, work closely with the Layout Editor to make sure the articles are formatted correctly online.
I will use examples to teach. I will provide students with examples of the correct and incorrect ways to write a sentence. I will show pupils how to proofread their work for spelling and grammatical errors so that they do not rely solely on their spellchecker.

My teaching methods include brainstorming, thought organization, use of the thesaurus, and use of adverb and adjective clauses to overcome writer’s block. These are in part “taught” but also developed by recognition and support of inborn talents. Operative use of vocabulary is also imperative to the development of both writing and speaking skills. Practice is as much a key to success as it is in sports, music, or in any discipline. Research is an important tool in the process of effective writing as well as speaking. Research skills are best taught by demonstration. Didactic methods are dry and uninspiring. It is best to teach research skills by actually working with the student.
