As a long-time instructor in English, both in public schools and in higher education, I have encountered many students of many different backgrounds, learning styles, and ages, in the classroom and online. I have taught in many areas of English-related courses. These courses have included writing, literature, reading, public speaking, report writing, film and humanities, and other liberal arts courses. A Little Bit About Me...

My strengths are with all children, they are my passion. I love inspiring and motivating students to learn. I try to actively engage students in learning by using a variety of activities, projects, and manipulatives. A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught French and German in both public and private schools from grades 1 through the college level for over 30 years. My most recent experience was in a public high school, grades 9-12, where I taught for 25 years. I have a bachelors and a masters degree in French literature with a minor in German and am National Board Certified in French. I have also taught humanities and am certified in world civilizations.
Teaching has been a motivation for me for all of my working life. I have experienced the joys of my student's successes at the high school level and then on to their university courses or in their own work experiences. It is important to explain and have students experience learning from a number of different angles. Each day involves reading, speaking, listening and writing in the target language. The more senses involved, the better a student can grasp a skill.

I've been a teacher for 13 years. I've taught all subjects from 1st grade to 8th grade and high school algebra 1. I'm currently teaching middle school math at the 7th and 8th grade levels. I've been in my current position for five years.
