As an undergraduate I had one year as a teaching assistant as a student at Lebanon Valley College,where I also I won the Freshman Achievement Award in Chemistry. As a graduate student, I had four years as a Teaching Assistant in Chemistry. I also tutored students one on one freshman chemistry for no fee. While in industry, I taught sessions in Chemistry as well as Chemical Safety to plant workers having no technical training. In industry I developed strong PC computer skills. My job provided me with frequent training in word processing, spreadsheet formulation, and statistial calculation. As such I feel I have very strong computer skills including Internet searching.

My main goal is to encourage independent thinking and analytical reasoning to augment their problem solving skills, thus encouraging them to not just memorize. I prompt them to question at every stage: “why?..how?” and satisfy their curiosity, instead of assuming the instructor is always right. My favorite approach is: “If you don’t have any questions, I have some for you”. This prompts classroom discussions which are very useful and has led to several intellectually stimulating questions/arguments that are not always easy to answer.
