I feel that I can always learn something new everyday. I always wanted to teach but didn’t originally go that route. I have a BA in Speech Communications. I then went on to take some Sign language classes, but never felt complete. After about 5 years, I decided to follow my heart and go back to school and get a Teacher of the Handicapped Certification. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always believed that the greatest mistake a student of science can make is to memorize the material; there is simply too much material to memorize. I tutor the way I learn: to work to make real connections between topics and avoid brute force meorization. The key to me is engage the student and attempt to make them like the material they are learning. I realize how competitive and difficult science coursework can be and I always look to help the student feel confident.

A Little Bit About Me...

I received a B.S. Degree in Education with a teaching certificate in English-Communication, at the secondary level. I am also qualified to instruct younger children. My graduate work focused on elementary students.My experience with young children, was learning to identify reading disabilities, administering standardized reading tests, to assess the instructional and readiness levels of individual students. I have taught in a wide array of classroom settings and as a private tutor.
I strive to encourage open discussions, and small group activities so students can move around the room, but only as it relates to the task at hand. I enjoy watching their enthusiasm when I give a "fun" learning activity. I am pleasant, very patient and lively!
