I've been informally teaching for around 7 years, starting with private percussion lessons and high school drumline instruction and most recently tutoring through the Migrant Education Program in the subject areas of English as a Second Language, math, science, and Spanish. I am a current Geography Teacher Education student at Illinois State University minoring in Spanish. I will receive my license after completing my student teaching requirement in the spring of 2015.

I am a visceral teacher. I like to use illustrations whenever possible, videos, photographs, drawings... I like making connections to things that may seem unrelated - I think this strengthens neuro-pathways and thought processes. Teaching has always been my passion. To be equiped for that, I went to school and earned a BS in Sciences of education. A Little Bit About Me...

I don't believe in giving a student the answers to their questions. Rather, I think it is important to help them find the answers themselves--understanding the process will enable them to perform on their own. For example, rather than editing a student's paper, I will go through it line by line and have them help me find the errors.
I have a very strong background in writing. My experience includes my graduate research and thesis, news writing for a tv station, in addition to 6 years of writing for academia. I spent a semester in Pau, France and can tutor beginning to intermediate level students. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA in high school, college and graduate school.
