A Little Bit About Me...

Biology and the life sciences are as interesting to me now as when I was in the fifth grade. My education is in microbiology which I have applied in the agrigricultural industry, diabetes research, and pharmaceutical diagnostics. I have been teaching biology and biotechnology classes for the past seven years in communty college and high school. My best asset as a teacher is finding a way to make the material interesting and relevant to my students.
As a teacher, I strive to motivate students and to encourage their desire to learn so they may ascertain their strengths and abilities. I have been actively involved in Church youth work for the past twenty years. During that time I have mentored two to three high school students per year in algebra, chemistry, biology and physics. Basic math and science is critical to their future success in our hi-tech world and if they are willing to learn, I am willing to teach. Teaching has always been part of my professional career and I authored several technical training manuals during my years as the senior research engineer for Mobil Oil. My educational background includes a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Illinois.
