A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of a sound Liberal Arts College, I've learned that the greatest asset I took away with me was the art of communication. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus in Creative Writing and Spanish. I have written essays upon essays, from creative short-stories to my fifty-page senior thesis, and would love to continue working in a position which allows me to use my hard-earned tools.
As a recent graduate, I have the unique skill of relating to students on their own level. I love listening to their needs and assessing the situation with great care and concern. There are different learning techniques and all students are different. Once I learn the proper needs of the student, I will be very successful in helping them reach their goals. As an online graduate at Kaplan University, I quickly became aware of my priorities. Students seeking help often emailed other classmates for assistance. I was often told there were very few students who responded to their emails; however, I was one of them. I earned my Associate degree through Allegany College of Maryland. I enjoyed this area of study so much that I decided to transfer to Kaplan University Online and continue my study in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting. I attended graduation in Chicago, IL, where I learned no matter what obstacles in life you face you can continue your education if your mind is set to do it. A Little Bit About Me...

While in high school, I was a certified adult literacy tutor. Since I've had children, I have been an active volunteer in their classes - preschool through elementary school. I hold a BS from PSU in Finance with a minor in Economics. I earned my MBA while working full time in less than 2 years. In my last position, I was the training team lead for IT and policy for the Department of the Navy's financial card program. I have taught classes as small as 4-5 individuals to as large as 1200 students.
I love to teach and to see the students actually understanding the concept and putting the context into action. I try to teach the big picture first - if the student understands why they need the subject and how it will benefit them in their future, it makes the learning relevant.
