A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all children have the capability to learn if someone is willing to be patient and work with them. I enjoy having fun with youth while learning and teaching those I work with the value of what they are learning. I work well with all age groups and am willing to put in the time necessary to ensure students can reach their full potential.
I graduated with a degree in Physical Science Education, which gives me a strong background in Physical Sciences and in math. I have worked with children and youth of all age levels and nearly every ability. I ran an afterschool program for the Salvation Army, ran a boys home for troubled boys and worked in St. Paul City schools as a substitute teacher and a night teacher at an evening school. If one word could describe my teaching style it would be the word flexible. Each student is unique and different and needs to be taught in a way appropriate for him or her. A student will find me easy to approach because of my patient, respectful, and easy going style. Because I'm easy to approach, this will welcome inquiry and interaction which is vital to the learning process. In addition, I'm a firm believer that most students learn best by doing and by applying what they have learned to their own lives. I love working with students and getting to know them as individuals. This helps me to be able to see what type of learner each student is so that I can adapt my lessons to meet the needs of my students. I love being able to provide time within my lessons for communication and reflection. I feel that by communicating and reflecting on the material, the students are able to learn the material in a deep way. I know that not all students learn the same way and I change my lessons to make sure that I am able to help make sure that each student is able to be successful and learn the material.
