Certified Teacher Looking To Help Others As A Tutor

I have a wide variety of educational experience and have recently crossed over into the realm of education as a Special Education/At-Risk teacher with the Edgerton School District. My current position has me utilizing differentiated instruction and modification techniques with nearly 50 students throughout the day which will enhance my ability to tutor others who need help. I am now a teacher at a private school in Monona. I help aid a Preschool classroom and have my own classroom in the afternoon for students age four. I also run an after school program once the school day is done with and that incorporates 4 year-olds to seventh graders. I help students out with homework during that time. Before I started my teaching job, I was substituting in Madison and Verona Area School Districts. While in college I had many practicum's in different classrooms and would help students out inside and outside of the classroom. For the past two years, I nannied for a little boy and would help him out with his reading and any other homework he would have for the night.

My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : I have training and have used many remedial reading programs such as read 180, corrective reading and Direct Instruction by SRA.

I have been a Special Education Teacher for 15 years and an administrator for 5 years. I have taught at both the elementary, intermediate and high school levels. I have worked with students who have been severely cognitively disabled and those that have had multiple attention and behavioral concerns. I am very patient and have been able to create systems to provide structure to keep kids on track. I always want children to know what to expect and have a structure in which to be successful.
I believe my patience and creativity allows children to feel comfortable with their own learning needs. I work with them and help them find their unique learning style.
