I've been doing sign language for 18 years, I have a brother and sister who are deaf and thats how I became skilled. I enjoy doing sign language and tutoring people who are willing to learn it. I've taught other family members,friends,even students from school. Whenever someone notices me doing sign language they always come near me and ask me to teach them. It is best to learn sign language in person. Signs are done from the hands and facial expressions and is best learned in person.
Being a CODA, child of deaf adults, has allowed me to be fluent in mine and my parent's native language of American Sign Language. Through my 13 years of professional work in the sign language field, I have tutored and taught sign language and have mainly worked as a sign language interpreter for the Deaf and hearing community. Since I was a child in elementary school, I have driven to achieve educational excellence for myself and to help and encourage those in my community to achieve the same. As a high school student, I tutored elementary aged kids and when I went on to college I was the director of an after school tutoring program sponsored by the Nashville Public Library. I was later employed by a private tutoring company called Club-Z tutoring.
