I have taught all ages and levels from preschool through community college. I have enjoyed working with students at all ability levels. I was a peer tutor as early as elementary school. I have taught mathematics at the elementary, middle school, high school, and community college levels. I have helped the top students excel and push ahead of the class, and helped the bottom students gain proficiency in the subject matter at hand. As a childbirth educator I have developed and taught perinatal classes to adults of all levels of education. Teaching CPR and First Aid classes has given me the opportunity to work with lay and health professionals and tailor the teaching style to meet the needs of the individual student. As a parish nurse I have presented numerous health topics to a variety of church and civic groups.
In teaching childbirth classes as well as CPR and First Aid classes I have utilized lecture, audio-visuals, written materials, and demonstration/return demonstration methods of teaching. I have found that each individual has his or her own learning style and I like to tailor the class to the individual's style as much as possible. I do believe that some type of return demonstration, whether it be verbal, hands-on, or written, is an effective way to assess the student's mastery of the subject.

I love working with all types of people, as helping people is a great passion of mine. I find it effective to teach by relating to something that the person I am teaching really enjoys. For example if they love basketball, I may try to relate the subject to it, to make it easier to learn. I have a lot of patience and usually have no problem helping someone. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. I have very strong math skills, especially in Algebra, which is what my daughter is learning now. I excelled in grammar, art, health, and science as well. I was a teacher at a private school for a year after college before I started a family and began home schooling. My daughter is now in the 8th grade and tests at the college level in reading and high school levels at most other subjects.
