A Little Bit About Me...

For almost twenty years, I’ve worked with students as a K-12 as a tutor, coordinator, counselor, and advocate in a variety of educational environments. I am committed to the belief that achieving a good education is the most viable way for students to become productive citizens. In 2006, I returned to college to obtain my bachelor’s degree and by flexing my classes scheduling, earned 83 hours in 6 consecutive semesters and graduated Magna cum laude from Eastern Illinois University in the December 2007. My educational focus was Psychology and Philosophy, alone with writing intensive courses and I am also a twice-published fiction writer and a published poet.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a BS from LeTourneau University in Business Management, and have more 48 college hours in Science, English and History. I have been accepted in an Alternative Path to Certification program with A+ Texas Teachers. I have completed the 80 hours training required by Texas and passed the NCLB tests: TExES Science 116 (4 -8), TExES Special Education 161 (EC-12), and the Arizona Biology 07 (9-12). My classroom experience was acquired during 3 1/2 years of teaching science in a high risk high school in Phoenix, AZ. At the school I help enrich the science department with movies, flash cards, outside actives, and plays. I tutored reading, and writing for the state of Arizona. I was also approved to teach math in Arizona.

I am a degreed professional with 20+ years of experience.My Bachelor's and two Master's degrees are in English, Speech, Reading, and ESL. I have taught from pre-school age to adults. I currently teach as an adjunct professor at the college level. The field of communication is my passion, whether reading and discussing someone else's words, or writing and delivering your own words.
