As an undergraduate I majored in English and also completed the secondary education program. I completed my student teaching assignment at a local high school in Colorado Springs and taught remedial English to students who had failed the class at least once prior. I then went to graduate school and earned my MA in English and entered the corporate world of education and training. My background is primarily in training adults but my passion for learning and pedagogy, as well as my personality that encourages and builds esteem, make me an excellent candidate for beginning a career as a tutor.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently completed student teaching and have earned my teaching certificate as an art specialist. I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students at different levels with varying abilities. I have had internships at the high school and elementary levels, with time spent both in the art classroom as well as the special education classroom. As a substitute teacher, I learned to manage an array of classrooms and assumed all duties of a regular classroom teacher. While working for a day camp, I organized and led activities for diverse students ranging from age five to fifteen. I have always loved working with young people and helping them achieve their potential. I have worked with mainstream and honors students to behavior disorder and severely cognitively impaired youth. I believe there are no throw-away kids and that given the right environment and opportunities, all students can learn. My goal is to provide the best education possible and make my services become obsolete for each student.
