I have been in the teaching area over the past five years. I lived in Xiamen, China for four years where I taught French at a private school and at Xiamen University, one of the stronger universities of China for two years. From 2008 to 2011, every weekend I was tutoring two Canadian children, 6 to 10years old. I also tutored French to foreign students, especially Chinese students when I was in France.

There is a French adage that goes, À coeur vaillant rien d'impossible. “Nothing is impossible with a willing heart.” French is not an easy language to learn, but if you study hard, you can be fluent in French. I speak French ever since I was little. My country was a French colony that's why our official language is French. I won several awards when I grew up. I participated in a writing contest called "Concours d'orthographe de l'ocean Indien" when I was nine years old. I won an award with "mention bien" after the contest. As a student at Grinnell College, I was motivated to achieve at a high level. During my four years of college, I earned a BA in French and Biology. I also spent four months during my third year studying in France, where I lived with a host mother and attended classes at a local university. My BA degree was in Speech & Theatre. Who would have known that a shy kid like me would have excelled in public speaking, english, and theatre. I love the English language, even though I've had classes in French and Spanish. I started school when I was 4 years old (too early), and all my grade school years was challanged with education. Now that I am an adult, I feel that I have the experience to help children understand and find it easier to learn English and grammer, sentence writing, composition writing, essays, etc.
Laid back, but encouraging.If a child is struggling, I don't think you should add fear and criticism to the situation. Having had Catholic nuns in all my grammer school days, pretty much put the "fear of God" into me, until I went on to public high school and college. then I was able to relax and embrace english and literature.
