A Little Bit About Me...

I have just about ten years teaching grades pre-k through eight grade. I took the requirements to obtain a teaching minor and certification, except the student teaching and the test because I decided to switch gears and go to law school. I am experienced in both the Michigan Grade Level Expectations as well as the Michigan's Adaptation of the Common Core Curriculum. I have taught students who are both intellectually advanced as well as those who experience challenges with learning and have had great success with both. When I decided to go to law school, I worked full time as a teacher and excelled in law school graduating in the top 15% of my class. Critical thinking skills and untraditional ways are what I focus on. However the way someone learns, I will try to set the individual up to show how they learn and work with them. I like to teach in whatever way best fits the students. I believe using many different methods is the best way to teach because it helps the student see the lesson in many different ways. Some lessons are best taught with hands on activities where the student can see what is happening and this tends to work best in math and science. In other areas such as reading and writing, using books and creative writing techniques can help strengthen the skills needed. A new way to learn

I use a lot of visual aids to help the students understand the material. I go the extra mile and I am dedicated to using anything I can think of above and beyond their text books.
I have one class left to finish my BS in Elementary Education. My major is in science so everything I know is new and up to date. I have a nephew who is very intelligent however has a sever reading problem. Through the summer I found ways to break through the barriers and we advanced his reading by a couple of reading levels. A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked in the automotive industry from 1995-2007. In 2007, I took a buyout from Ford in order to stay home full time with my two children. I went back to Ford Motor Co. in 2013, working part-time. My Bachelor's Degree is from University of Michigan in Electrical Engineering. My main focus is tutoring math.
