Perpetual student is a label I proudly accept. I began my post-secondary education acquiring a Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts-Dance with a minor in Psychology. I continued my schooling by earning a Massage Therapy Certification then completed the coursework to turn my Psychology minor into an additional major. I have had nearly five years of experience in tutoring and mentoring. During college I was an English as a Second Language (ESL) tutor at two different non-profits. I currently am an Americorps member in the Downriver communities. In this position I teach ESL, GED prep, after-school tutoring, as well as a science program aimed at elementary students in River Rouge.
I have a hands on teaching style that mixes fun activities with an emphasis on asking children questions. I pay attention to each individual student and try to figure out what their learning style is. I try to center activities around how they learn (ie. if they are a textile learner, I'll bring in physical shapes to work on geometric problems as opposed to worksheets).
