A Little Bit About Me...

As a current graduate student I've learned to not only be a student but also a teacher, in assisting my peers and family in subjects beyond their understanding. I've earned my bachelors in science in Chemistry, and I am currently working on my Masters Degree In Aeronautical Science with A focus in Air traffic Management and operations.
I feel like the best way to teach a subject is to break it down to the basics and build your way up, I feel you cant have a full understanding of something if you cant teach it yourself. Im a positive motivator and I believe that with enough patience and repetition any student will be able to understand anything.

My teaching style involves a lot of examples and having the student answer the questions on the board. I am able to come up with examples off the top of my head and have the student work through the problem to prevent "dumb" mistakes (such as forgetting a minus sign). I am very patient and allow my students as much time as possible and encourage them to ask whenever they are stuck. I try to show that math can be fun and interesting and that there are applications out in the real world.
I began tutoring math for Stetson University which ranged from Algebra 1 to Calculus 2. I then began tutoring privately and I have tutored lower level math and advanced statistics. I have tutored a student who was failing calculus in class but then they earned the highest possible grade on the standardized test. I also have a degree in mathematics.

A Little Bit About Me...

It has been my experience that every child can learn when taught with enthusiasm, care, and creativity. I attempt to lead students in discovering for themselves, as opposed to delivering spoon-fed answers. I believe that the most mundane subject can be infused with adventure. My classrooms are colorful and creative, inviting the learner to do just that: learn!
The joy of teaching has permeated my professional career, whether as Director of Education at three churches, the editor of a curriculum line, a substitute teacher filling in at the last minute, a well-traveled seminar/workshop leader, a freelance writer of curriculum and classroom tools; the volunteer facilitator of an ongoing weekly class, or most recently, as an educator at a small academy, teaching Creative Writing, Journalism and Latin in an impoverished area of Orlando. I have enjoyed investing my teaching gifts in stud ... read more
